• For the first time in South Africa, there is the possibility of a statutory mechanism that secures the economic content of the rights that performers are routinely required to transfer to the producer. Through the Copyright Amendment Bill we have a realistic hope of negotiating equitable contracts.

Nicole Fortuin

Media & Communications (CTN)

Nicole Fortuin is a South African triple-threat: actress, dancer and model. Fortuin graduated from the Settlers High School with a distinction in Drama, English and Visual Arts. She has also graduated with a BA in Theatre and Performance from the University of Cape Town.

Nicole’s first lead role, first job booked post-UCT and possibly the role she is best-known for, is as Maryke Van Niekerk (Lead) in the Afrikaans drama series Roer Jou Voete that aired on Sabc 3. Fortuin hasn’t slowed down since as she is revered for, not only the versatility of characters she has portrayed but also the various modes of performance and experience she has in her repertoire. From vocal work in SAfm’s radio drama to playing Princess Aurora-Adora (Lead) in Janice Honeyman’s pantomime of Sleeping Beauty at the Joburg Theatre.

She shows no sign of slowing down- nationally or internationally. In 2016 Nicole landed a lead role in the Warner Bro’s A Cinderella Story: If The Shoe Fits as Georgie (the fairy god-mother) alongside Sofia Carson and Jennifer Tilly (currently on Disney Channel) and made an appearance (as the chief cave-woman) on National Geographic’s Origins: Journey Of Mankind. Fortuin can also be seen portraying cameo roles in Van De Merwe and Vaselintjie, two locally produced Afrikaans films released in 2017. Currently Fortuin graces SA screens in Season 2 of the critically acclaimed Swartwater as the troubled Cindy Van Niekerk (supporting-lead) and also had a cameo on the brand new Cape Town- based Waterfront as Dr. Adri Schoeman.

She ended off 2017 on the set of two adverts and (even more excitingly) on Agent a series shot in Mauritius for Canal + (French) and SABC 1 airing in April of 2018.
Nicole is passionate about any avenue of performance and entertainment and constantly dabbles in photography, film-making, writing, with long-term plans to direct theatre and film.

With her growing CV, brand new character on Generations, South Africa’s most watched and longest standing soap opera and a lead in an up-an-coming feature film already in the pipeline for 2018… Nicole’s future is looking brighter than ever.
