Shadi "Mmaboshadi" Chauke is a qualified Chartered Accountant, an actress, voice artist, MC and presenter. She is the Owner and Executive Producer of two Johannesburg-based TV and Film production companies: Viva Pictures and Pop Up Media. Her main role as an Executive Producer is business development, risk and financial management and producing. She brings with her, 16 years of commercial experience.
She is a former Partner at the global Audit and professional services firm, Deloitte & Touche, having served in the External Audit division for 5 years from 2013 to 2018. Prior to that, she was the Chief Financial Officer at TV and Film production company, Urban Brew Studios, and prior to that, she served in a senior finance position at Standard Bank Group.
Her first international credit as Narrator in the award-winning documentary film, Have You Heard from Johannesburg, directed and produced by American Emmy Award-winning director, Connie Field.
She played the role of Lola on Netflix’s first original South African series, Shadow, and appeared as tough cop, Leena, on the international short film, White Gold, written and directed by British award-winning director, Luke Bradford. She is the confident Leano on SABC3’s long-running soapie, Isidingo, and the conniving imposter, Dineo, on Mzansi Magic’s popular telenovela, Ring of Lies: Seasons I and II.
She debuted her first Lead role in a theatre stage play, Yourself or Someone Like You, which played at PopArt Theatre in Maboneng, Johannesburg.
